Several signatories to the Green Procurement Code are celebrating after seeing their environmental efforts rewarded at this year's Clean City Awards ceremony.

Launched in 1994, the Clean City Awards Scheme aims to develop partnerships with City businesses by raising the profile of responsible waste management and recognising and rewarding good practice by encouraging businesses to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

This year's ceremony was held at Mansion House in the City of London, where a significant number of signatories received gold and platinum awards.

A special mention must go to law firm Eversheds LLP who walked away with the Chairman's Cup in the 'Large Site' category. The judges praised Eversheds' holistic approach to waste management:

"In addition to their extensive waste minimisation, reuse and recycling initiatives for dry materials, [Eversheds] have introduced a comprehensive food waste minimisation and composting programme".

Henderson Global Investors, a UK based international investment company, received a Platinum Special Commendation in the 'Large Site' category,

"..for the efforts they have made to understand and measure waste from their new headquarters".

Other signatories who triumphed in the 'Large Site' category include property management firm CB Richard Ellis, specialist banking group Investec and financial services company Threadneedle Asset Management Holdings Ltd.

In addition, new signatory LRS Consultancy received a Platinum Award in the 'Small Site' category.
